Regional Project: Tree Planting Activity in Magallanes, Cavite

Region 3 Chairperson of District 301-A2 Rosario Sarao, together with Regional Project Chairperson, PRC Rey Estocdo MJF of the Dasmarinas Lions Club, conducted a regional tree planting activity last October 7, 2017 at Buhay Forest, Magallanes, Cavite. The tree planting was attended by 30 different Lions members and 10 volunteers from Region 3 of District 301-A2.
This regional project was initiated in 2016 and continued as part of the annual activities of Region 3. The activity was chosen to gain attraction to the forest as well as to provide stewardship over the environment. Some of the varieties of trees that were planted during the activity includes jackfruit, hibiscus, star apple, tamarind and rambutan.
Buhay Forest is a 10-hectare forest reserve located in Magallanes, Cavite. The forest has camping and hiking facilities and houses several species of flora and fauna. The forest reserve is a 20-minute walk from Barangay San Agustin, Magallanes, Cavite. It was developed in 2012 by the Municipality of Magallanes under ex-mayor, Edwin Sisante and current mayor, Jasmin Maligaya Bautista.
