The Magdalo Lions Club along with the Leo Club of Magdalo conducted an outreach program in cooperation with the Mary Immaculate Parish Special School in Las Pinas in the morning of August 5, 2017. Headed and coordinated by Lions member and 1st Vice President Grace Burgos, the club was assisted by the Book Lovers Club of the school throughout a series of events that benefited some of the children of the nearby depressed areas.
The smaller children were herded off to a doodling area and the bigger kids were brought to the front for a reading session with the Book Lovers Club members. After a reading session, there was an origami activity that taught the kids to fold a heart shape. Both activities were aimed in developing creativity and resourcefulness.
Part of the program is a focus on daily exercise. The Leo members demonstrated some activities that can contribute to their overall health and well-being.
After the activities, the kids were given a presentation to teach them about proper hygiene by Lions member Menchie Sarao. They also played games and then ended with a hearty lunch for everybody in attendance.
The Magdalo Lions Club members convened after the outreach program and conducted their General Membership Meeting. Some of the discussed points included upcoming projects which includes Sight for Kids activities around Noveleta, Bacoor and General Trias, Disaster Preparedness and Coastal Clean Up Project in Nasugbu, Family Fun Day Fundraising Project and the Peace Poster project, which is in part of a national project.
